Uphill Primary School is a ‘Learning Without Limits’ School where everyone is trusted, included and welcome. We believe that all children can become more powerful, committed and successful learners when given distinctive supportive conditions and generous opportunities for learning. We know that children thrive best in a nurturing environment where all their achievements are valued and celebrated.
Our SENCo is Mrs Sasha Allsopp. She is contactable via the school office and is available on Wednesdays, by appointment, for parent consultations.
If you have concerns about your child’s progress at school regarding any of the following: reading, writing, numbers, social and emotional development, behaviour, communicating, physical or sensory; the first person to speak to about your concerns would be your child’s class teacher. If you still have on going concerns you may wish to speak to the school’s SENCo Mrs Sasha Allsopp.
If any educational needs are identified Mrs Allsopp will plan how to provide support for your child with the involvement of both yourself and the class teacher and outside agencies as appropriate. If additional support is needed Mrs Allsopp will access this for you and record your child’s progress through their Learning Passport. Parents/carers are offered the opportunity to meet with their child’s class teacher twice a year at Parents’ Evenings to discuss their progress.
Mrs Lucy de Scossa is our school’s Learning Mentor. She is available to meet with parents/carers to discuss any social and emotional issues which they feel may be affecting their child’s ability to learn. She can work with small groups and/or with individual children depending on the child’s specific needs. Appointments can be arranged via the school office.
If you still have concerns that your child’s needs are not being met, please do talk with the Headteacher.
