Maths Task (Daily)

New Learning: Please read!

Thank you so much for all the fabulous work you have done in maths this first week back. We have been really encouraged by how hard the children have refocused after the Easter Break and their attitude to learning at this challenging time has been fantastic!

Now everyone has had a chance to settle into the new term, we are going to start some new learning. This means that the format of how learning is delivered will change, with Year 3 and Year 4 coverage being split. Each lesson will start with a video tutorial which will explain and demonstrate the key concepts, before children complete the related worksheet.

A link to the tutorials can be found in the weekly lesson folders below. Just click on the relevant year group.

Once again we would stress that children will have different levels of confidence and the expectation is not that all children complete the entire worksheet in any given lesson. Work is designed to provide appropriate challenge for all, so just work up to the point at which your child is being appropriately challenged - but still coping.

Please do not feel you have to print out worksheets - it is completely optional. Answers can be recorded in the children's pink books or on paper as an alternative - just ensure that it is clearly set out. Once complete, children can mark their own work as answers are also provided!

In addition, each week's learning will be introduced by Mr Huntley in a brief video which can be accessed before you start work.

Enjoy your new learning and keep up the good work!

For some good news about the recent competition on Sumdog - scroll to the bottom of this page!

Times Tables:

In addition, there will be a times table task on TT Rock Stars. This is only a short activity, but it is very important that children practise these often so they can recall them with ease. Remember you can also go on to Mathsframe times tables check to help you learn your times tables. There are lots of other games you can also play on this website to keep your times table recall snappy so be sure to have a look at them too. The link for this can be found below. We've also included a link for hit the button - another good way to ensure your times table recall really is up to scratch!

Sumdog Competition

You may have noticed that our three classes had been entered in a local sumdog competition at the end of April. This meant that we were competing with classes from other schools in our local area. The good news is we did really well.

Chandra class were the overall winners which is just brilliant - well done!

Sputnik received a daily prize - again well done!

A number of you made it into the top 10 students chart and I will email your certificates to you this week!

There is a national competition starting at 8am this Friday 8th May -  8pm Thursday 14th May, which all three classes have been entered in - wouldn’t it be great if we had some winners in that too?

Well done year 3/4 - super maths skills! ➕➖➗✖️
